RUIZ DEL PUERTO - Concert Guitarist
Jose Luis Ruiz del Puerto is from the province of Cordoba. He initially studied guitar at the Conservatory of Music in Valencia and perfected his studies in Alicante, Paris and Salzburg. He studied musical analysis and composition techniques with the notorious Spanish composer Francisco LLácer Pla and through him he became interested in the field of contemporary music.
This has led to the creation of numerous new works for the guitar, such as those commemorating the Centenary of the Birth of Federico García Lorca, the Centenary of the Birth of Joaquín Rodrigo, the 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Francisco Tárrega or the 20th Anniversary of the Death of Andrés Segovia.
His contribution to the dissemination of new Spanish contemporary music has given him international recognition. The magazine
Classical Guitar wrote: "He is a true Spanish cultural ambassador.” Some of the most distinguished, present-day composers have dedicated their scores to Ruiz del Puerto and he has produced
first recordings of works by many of them.
He has toured through Spain, Mexico, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Austria, Romania, England, Portugal, Ireland, Germany, Turkey, Russia and Morocco, performing in concert halls and festivals. He published several CDs for the record labels Ars Harmónica, Columna Música and the Mexican label Tempus Clásico.
